...is the sound my the passenger side front wheel makes on my '99 when I turn left slowly, with the steering wheel cranked all the way to the left.
When I do this at a higher speed, it makes a a really nasty noise that I can only liken to a rhino giving birth.
A bad CV perhaps?

Id' bet it's a hub bearing, a cv axle making that kind of noise would vibrate like mad at speed.

If it's a wheel bearing then why does it only make that noise when the wheel is turned all the way to the left?

could also be a bad brake
best to get the front end of the car
up
and take the wheel off
and look
for metal shavings
or a broken cv joint boot
put the car in nuetral and spin the wheel
that you suspect is bad
and listen
or look for excessive play in the hub assembly
if there is a lot of play in your wheel hub
its the bearning gone bad
you'll have to replace the whole hub unit
or it could be cv joint
or it could be a bad brake possibly
take it a part check it out
