starting

i have a 97 rs 2.2 i changed the motor. now it will not fire at all.i am not sure its gitting fuel .when i put the new engine in i but the ground from the battery on the starter(i know duh lol)i wonder if that would have burned up the ecm. i checked the fuses and everything.i give up tryed evrything fuses are fine any one know how to reset the computer without takin in to the shop use to be able to take battery cable off of other cars.someone please any info would be great thanks jim
