sticky acceleration

I have a 91 c1500 4.3L with 190K on it. Lately, when i take off from a stop, the accelerator seems to be sticking. The truck runs fine if not great and no real idle problems, it just seems to stick sometimes and I can not gently accelerate. I have to hit the pedal rather hard to get it to go, then it's kind of a fast jump. This can be a problem if i'm trying to back up in a tight parking spot.

The pedal itself is not the problem, it's not binding or sticking, does anyone have any ideas? I think it may be the bushings in the throttle body. I have cleaned the throat with spray and it seems clean. The problem really is a sticking kind of situation.

thanks in advance.

Could be the throttle cable. disconect from the throttle body and slide it back and forth with your hand for binding if so replace.have tried to lube but no luck my self had to replace.Hope that helps.

I thought I had this problem to. The accelerator pedal is held to the floor by a little block with a metal plate cap. I just sprayed some silicon spray in it and it fixed it. What I should have done is take it apart, clean it, and re-grease it.

The same thing happened to mine, i fixed it. You have to adjust the trottle plate screw, to keep the trottle plate from sticking. -Sean

When you cleaned the throat with that cleaner, you cleaned all the oil and gunk from the plate. Take some WD-40 and just a touch at the butterfly rod on the inside. Should take care of it. My kid just did the same thing.

Get some good TBI cleaner and a tooth brush and clean the butterfly and housing where the butterfly closes.
A bad case you will need to spray and brush several times. Just like cleaning your teeth. Do a good job.
Carbon build up at the butterfly can cause the gas pedal to stick.
