Building LS/Vtec

I am a complete noobie to this fourm and have a question that I need answered. I am going to be building an LS/Vtec engine over the winter and everything that I have been able to find concerning the fabrication of this engine has included the use of either an B16 head or ITR head. I was wondering why there is not to much information on using the GSR head. I am planning on using a GSR head on my engine to take advantage of the smaller combustion chamber size in an effort to bump up compression. Also I am wondering if anyone has used ITR pistons within an application like this and if so are there any clearance issues. I am wondering about the domed pistons clearing the head, spark plug, and valves. Any help or links would be great. Thanks in advanced.

Yes, any B series vtec head will work. As far as seeing more b16 or ITR heads being used, that most likely has something to do with the intake manifold design(B16 and ITR have very similar designs while GSR is quite different). When it comes to using type r pistons I'm assuming your going to make it NA. If you use an ls block it shouldn't be a problem, if you use a b20 block the bore on the block will be to big for the ITR pistons. Whether you go turbo or NA it will have a shit load of power and torque...wish I could afford to build my own frankenstein motor, maybe in the future.

Yea I am going to make it an NA engine with as much compression as I can safely run on 94 octane. I forgot about the fact that GSR heads have inverted intake manifolds. I guess that is another thing to add to the list of questionables.

n/a motor would be better off running GSR head *well turbo would be too but that's another story*

I just found that bugger again works well I used it for my motor when I made my lsvtec.

If you need anymore help just ask me

Thanks for the link, now that I have played around my only variable is weather or not I want B18c5 pistons (11.67:1 CR) or B18c1 slugs @ 10.5:1 CR
