first off lemme say im a member in the pontiac section and i drive an 01 ws6 6spd. my brother just got a 2003 gt 5spd. the car is bone stock xcept for a filter. what are some good mods he can do thatll give him some extra ponies to the rear wheels. i heard CAI are bad and onyl good for a 4 hp gain, and the ratios are to rich so ull hafta geta MAF sesnor. is all of this true.

You'll have to dumb it down for me man....what is a CAI? Just do the same stuff that you would do to a TA or Z28.

lots of people ask this question, first off, we are gonna ask u, whats ur budget?
about the mods, if he already got a filter, might as well go with the whole intake, and for the intake to be helpfull get a throttle body, a throttle body spacer and a plenum. those are all the easy do it yourself at home in an hour mods. then u can get headders, which are harder, so are the rear end gears. for his 5 spd, u should get 3.73 gears. oh, cant forget, the exhaust. if u have jackstands, its also one of those do it urself in an hour mods. with that, u will notice some difference. if u really wanna tell the difference, go to the track now that its stock, he should get like a 14.3-14.5 and then after those mods, around the mid 13's.

right now hes got $3200. he wants to play it safe and keep and xtra $1K incasse anything goes wrong, though every1 says stangs are very reliable. so all in all hes got $2200. and the company says stcok its puttin 260 to the rear wheels. if the mods work as good as they say a bout how many exrta ponies will he get.

With $2200 I'd be tempted to build a JY turbo kit. You could probably get everything like bov and fuel system new, buy a jy deisel turbo or find some t-bird turbos and build a jy twin kit. Or save another couple grand and buy a new kit complete and ready to bolt on.
What gear is in those cars? 3.27? If he wanted to be a little more modest he could upgrade his fuel and air and maybe gets some cams. Or possibly buy a used Novi1000 or Vortech S-trim kit complete for a stock application. How much power does he want?

close to 400. right around the 350 range. he saw parts just bolt ons that give him around 85-90 hp gain. like an intake throttle body exhaust...

Be aware of over-rated gains. To be honest with you if I had an 03 GT and wanted 350+ hp I would get a high flow catted H-pipe and a nice catback system. Then something like this: VOR-4FL218-130SQ (part number at www.summitracing.com)
I would suggest to save up about $4500. He is already at $3200. Then I would take one week (weather dependant) and instal the exhaust and supercharger systems. If it where me I'd give myself a week to do this just incase something came up. But it could be done in a weekend with 2 full days I'm sure. Thats just my advice, save and buy something that will net you a safe but great gain right off the bat. Then later he could add intake, headers, head work, and cams or whatever he wanted. But to be honest with you all that stuff would be more expensive than the exhaust and boost. But thats just me, and boost is adictive lol.

Thanks Simioh, I knew what a cold air intake was, just never heard it called a CAI. THANKS......SORRY FOR NOT BEING UP ON THE LINGO, I'LL BE 32 NEXT MONTH, I GUESS I'M OLD.
