kool - how much $$?

Did you stick with the 4.0 or up to 4.6?

what was the issue with your old?

I had developed the head stud problem allowing exhaust gases into the cooling jackets. Never did actually blow the head gaskets or get water in the oil. I just did not want to go through the Timesert fix and risk other problems with little or no warranty. The engine was $5200, the labor was $1900 and included fluids, new heater hoses and some other small things. $7200 out the door and all new GM engines come with a 3 year 100k mi warr.

lotta dough - ouch

with 197,000 on mine im not sure if i will go your route when the time comes or just mapquest to the nearest pasture.

if i did do a new motor i would seriously look into the 4.6 - spending all the $$ may as well make it a major mod as well.
