I have a 2000 silverado z-71, my power door locks quit working. i have checked fuses, relays, wires and the lock mec. I have been told there may be a problem with the body control module (bcm) is there a way to fix this with out spending $80 bucks at the dealer to have my bcm read?? (When i press the switches i can hear the relays doing there job

I think what youi are hearing may be the lock motors them self and not the relays. I do not think you will be able to hear any noise at all from the relays. You may be having the same problem that i was having but it was only one lock not working. When i hit the button to lock or unlock the doors only one would work but i could hear the lock actuator working in the other door. After taking the door panel off and seeing that all the rods were in place but the actuator just was not operating, i removed the actuator itself as well. After taking the actuator apart to see what was wrong inside i saw that it had stripped out the plastic gears. These are not servicable in any way but i took it apart because i was nosey. I can not remember exactally how much the new actuator cost but i think it was somewhere between $40 and $60.

if you listen right by the inside fuse box you can hear the relays when you hit the lock or unlock button, all the fuses r good i swaped all the relays.i took the panel offl and im not getting any voltage coming to the actuator so i guess its something in the body control module.

the bcm is right below the steering column , drop lower dash and slide it out where it can be seen, there are 2 clips that hold the cover on, open it up and see if it is burnt or anything looks messed up. worth a try i had a car once that it had a burnt trace in circuit board and a friend made a jumper to bypass the bas spot and my locks worked again
