Well i dont know if you guys know this yet but over here in australia when your on your learner license and pervisional license you cant have turbo, pretty shit hey.
well these days in aus its hard to get a sr20de (non turbo) 180sx so if i get a turbo 180 (sr20det) will i be able to take the turbo off? and just run it as a non turbo??? or should i ditch the 180sx idea????

it would probably be hard b/c of tuning and compression. Not worth it, just get a beater and save money until you can buy one in a year or so. That way you would have more money to buy an even better one when the time comes

well with the s13 for the cred i want im going to hav to do some mods to it (exhaust, air filter, ecu, good system, good shocks, rims, maybe bodykit bit too ricer for me tho) that should have me covered until im a fully qualified mechanic (on my 1st year out of 4 years) then when im earning 1g a week then i can get into some serious mods or save for a 180sx or supra.

known for one of best savers in australia so saving for 20-25 weeks to save up 15-20g (price of supras and 180s in aus) shouldnt be a problem.

I vote to keep the Supra since so far the only Austrialian I've seen that managed to not turn their S-Chassis into a rice shit box is Kennedy with his S13.4

The only problem there is with a supra is im going to have to get a loan so im earning bout $230 a week $100 off the car $50 petrol $20 for food that leaves $50 a week to save for mods and go out, with an s13 i can save about 8g in about 8 months and buy it outright or i can save 5g and get a loan for 3or4g and pay the loan off quick but if i was going to get a supra i was going to get a loan for 10g.

now you tell me waht you would do if you cared about wat car you have.

Don't get a loan for the car, get an old beater and save up and pay the turboed 180 cash when you find it.

Uhhh... if you have to get an N/A car why dont you get a car that doesnt suck N/A, like a S2000 or something?

Plus the MKIV supra probably weighs more than the S13 so with exhaust and intake on the SR powerered 180sx, it should be fair IMHO.

dude im from australia too and learner an p plate can't have turboed or supercharched engines unless its deisle...and if its a 4 cylinder(which youll have to get for sure) it can't have more than 100kw or 110kwsomething like that not too sure....L or P platers can not have high powered six cylinder engines(supras,skylinesetc..)

anyway i wounldnt be worried about street cred with the petrol prices....i say you dont have to get an ugly beater but get something with good fuel economy like a civic or an excel.....something that will get you from point a to b

I dont have a 240 either. Everytime I look at my savings account I go, "well maybe a few more paychecks wont hurt". I am kinda over the S13 idea guys. I've seen too many of them riced out and beaned out over here in CA :crying: . So i'm gonna save a few more bucks and aim for a S14, and if I lose my steam my then I'll prolly get a 5spd 95 and up Maxima and jsut leave it stock. That probably wont happen though, cause me likey s14, and s13's too, but s14 more.
