window

We have a 99 Contour and the driver's side window will not go back up. It is all the way down. The switch (on drivers door), is illuminated, yet it doesn't operate. The three other window switches are illuminated and DO operate the appropriate window. So, since I am almost clueless when it comes to electrical :banghead: I figured I could bypass the switch (if that was the problem), by jumping the switch. No luck. Then I tried to manually lift the window up by detaching all the parts that I could. No luck again. (And yes, I put it back together.) Which leads me to still having the window down and rain predicted for the next week. I live in Oregon. ANY IDEAS? In advance, thank you for your help.

is the window motor bad?
Honestly, I don't know. Is there a way to test it on the vehicle? Would I need to take it to a shop and have them test it? Again, thank you for your help

Try Using One Of The Other Window Switches To See If Its The Motor Or The Switch If That Doesnt Work If You Take Out The Door Panel You Should Be Able To Do It Manually

How is that possible if the "switches" are pronged by a clip?

OK, upon review, the switches are housed together with prongs coming out of the back. They in turn snap to another clip that is connected to the wiring harness. I don't see how I can switch switches. So, my next train of thought would be manually lift said window. Here lies the problem, I already disconnected everything from the window that I could and the window stayed in down position. No vertical lift achieved. Have you ever manually lifted one of these windows? If so, could you walk me through the steps in order to lift said window?
