Sadly, there is not much awesome new model to get (well in my taste) Tamiya is doing nothing. Interesting kit come from Fujimi lately, but with usual lower quality.

look on 1999.co.jp for latest release (they are sorted from new to old)

Revell's C6 kit is pretty good, from what I've built so far

Got back into the hobby nearly a year ago now, shocked to see hardly any new cars on offer, and what has been released is pricey and lower detailed. Tamiya have released some nice F1 cars a few years ago, Ferrari 2000 /2001 and the FW24, Ferrari Enzo, also done some rally cars etc.. But this year has seen another Skyline..!! Yawn.!! Skylines are cool, but this is now the most over modelled car ever.. We can only take so many of them.

Revell have released some newer F1 kits, sadly cheap as they might be, lack quality. Fjumi released the 550 and 575, and these are crap. Decent builder could make modifications to get them looking decent, but I've been stuck building Tamiya's back catalog.

Revell has just released the C6, and this is actually a decent US muscle kit, and I'm building the C5-R at the moment, and TBH, Revell have shocked with these.. Decent kits. Maybe Revell is booking their ideas up..

Tamiya are releasing a 306 WRC, but with metal chassis.. Had a bit of a kicking, from me included. They did release the a 2005 WRC subaru with a nice P/E detail set.

TBH, don't look for recent kits from this year, the selection is bad, look for some of the older kits.. Tamiya 360 Modena is a nice kit to get back into the hobby with. Good detail, easy build, not frustrating..

Ah, beat me to it.. Just said this was a decent kit..!! the C5-R is also VERY good..!! And has good SMS upgrades as well.

Also, the Revell 1:12 is a large 1:24 detail F1 kit. Heard some good about this..!! The shocking thing is, has Revell got their act in order and are releasing decent ish kits now..!!

Lets hope..

eh. Im not totally satisfied with my hood fitment. It was a bit warped, needing some tweaking it to fit.

Do they choose 1:25 just to piss us off? I mean really.

But the tooling is very good, and don't get me wrong I would also recommend the C6 build for sure.

mstngcobrasvt98, welcome back to the hobby. I too had to take a brief hyatus when I went into the army. and I too went to basic at Ft. Jackson, SC. I was in E co, 128th trng btn. then off to Ft. Gordon for ait. I loved it. not much time for building untill I made it to my permanant duty station. when you go to Korea (trust me you will) stock up on tamiya and the other japaneese kits as they are hella cheap, and mail them to your mom's house, they won't let you send bulk kits back with your household goods.

that skyline rawks!!! GO ARMY!!!!
