Hello everyone,
I just purchased some front brake pads and am about to install them now. (by the way, i got 87k miles out of my first set...doing alot of stop and go driving though. And i purchased them from St Charles Isuzu..awesome place to purchase parts...very professional, courteous, and fast..oh and outstanding price). I even purchased a Haynes Repair Manual to make certain i do it right the first time.
But i still have one question, even after reading the manual. there are two pouches of "grease"...i assume they are grease..a creamy substance, that comes in the box along with the brakes. one is black and one is orange in color. Where am i supposed to apply these? And does it make a difference if i do or not?
Isuzu Rodeo 2WD 3.2L V6 4 door 2001 currently at 87k miles.
Thanks!
David

Lube is for the caliper bolts. If you don't use it, they will rust and freeze in there. How easy did they back out for you after 87K? I don't know why you have 2 pouches, though...

I forget now, because I scrapped that grease & used my jar of permatex 'synthetic' silicone brake grease. One of the packets is for the pad slides and caliper pins, the other is an anti squeal / rattle lube for the backs of the pads. Make sure you install the slide clips correctly & lube up the pad slides really well as that's the first area to crud up on the brakes. Pull, clean and regrease the slide pins as well. Be careful not to introduce dirt into the slide pin bores and make sure the rubber boots are sealed around the pins.
