Oil in 3rd and 4th spark plugs

I discovered some oil in spark plugs. Removed all four spark plugs, cleaned them, put them back - Found improvement in startup and general acceleration performance. There is no oil leak on the underneath of the car, nor on the floor.
Can anyone tell if this is a big problem? Either way, what is required to mend it?
HELP.

what do you mean, in the plugs? was it on the top of the plug where the plug wires attach, or down in the cylinder? if its on the top of the plug its spark plug grommets, if its inside the cylinder, your rings are going bad, or maybe valve guides.

The oil is not on the cable (on top) which caps on top. Rather, the oil is inside the cylinder where the spark plug screw into. So when I unscrewed the spark plug, the bottom part of the spark plug (where the spark gap is) was covered in oil.
Is this serious? What would it cost to mend it?
Thanks.

are your oil levels dropping? is your car smoking? do a compression and leakdown.

Examining the Engine oil dipstick, yes the oil level has dropped a bit (not too much). Its NOT smoking.

rings or valve stem seals

I had this same problem with one of my other cars and all I did was change the valve cover gasket and it's been fine ever since

Is it difficult to change the valve cover gasket?

valve cover gasket is very easy to change.
but his problem isnt a valve cover gasket.

a problem with the valve cover gasket will not put oil on the electrodes.

So is it grommetts?

So is it grommetts?
No, its not grommets, or a valve cover gasket problem. Hes getting oil on the electrode side of the sparkplugs, which is inside the cylinders, so there is something leaking oil, like rings, valve seals, valve guides.

Thanks guys, but any deffinitive answer will be appreciated.
Is it the head gasket ???
Is this costly repairs???
What should I look at, in priority sequence, to mend this problem???

No it's not the head gasket, at least that's not a real probable source but anything's possible.
After you do a comp./ leak test, Then post the results, people may be further able to assist you.

More information:
I saw few drops of coolant when the car was parked in driveway. Just remembered, this problem started after the exhaust system (from the CAT conv.) was upgraded with the stainless steel exhaust, that causes loud noise (installed by my son), and also noticed condensation (drops of water hanging) near the tail end of the exhaust close to the muffler.
Could the problem be related to the exhaust system change????

you have oil on the spark plug electrodes, then do a compression and leakdown. that is the first step.

yeah it sounds like you have too much blow by. there is a valve on the intake manifold that has a rubber hose coming from it(hard to explain) take the hose off and if there is oil in the hose and valve(should be able to tell) then you have blow by which is caused by weak piston rings. usually you can tell if you rev the engine high just a quick second ( dont rev slow) because this puts the most amount of strain on the engine and that is when the most amount of blow by will accure. Then you should have some blue smoke come out of the exhaust. if it is hard to tell have some one rev for you while you look at the tail pipe. if you know what burning oil smells like smell the exhaust when they rev

Cylinder leak down test is needed to tell you what is wrong.
Could be...
rings
valve guides
head gasket/cracked head
Leak down test will tell you what you want to know.

to answer a post that was at the begining about the cost to do this . If it is the piston rings which it sounds like it cost me about a $100. for the rings and a new head gasket. i also put new rod bearings in since i had the bottom end apart. that cost is if you do it yourself. it is a simple procedure if you have basic mechanical skills. pick up a repair manual and it should walk you through it.

Thank you guys.
sblkcamaro70 --->210,000 Kilometeres (not miles) on the motor. No major complaints, except it is hard on acceleration (have to floor it sometimes) when I need to speed - The acceleration was fine until my son changed the regular exhaust system (from Cat convertor to the rear of car) to the stainless steel system that creates loud noise on acceleration. Not sure if this contributed to the captioned subject problem. Also I have a leak in my fuel tank that I am trying to repair, but cannot find a fuel sending unit in Canada (all dealers including Honda, dont have it - discontinued)

yeah with the amount of miles on it, it is probably just a tired motor and could use a rebuild. if it is only taking very little oil the motor though should last quite a bit longer but if you want to get rid of your problem a rebuild or overhaul is the only way to fix it
