2002 Ranger - Park for Winter

Hello,

I have a Ford Ranger 2002, 4x4, FX4 edition. With higher gas prices, etc. I am planning on parking my truck for the winter and drive the car.

Any suggestions to what I should have done before parking? I plan to change oil and put the fuel stabilizer in. I was NOT going to park it inside and was NOT going to put it up on blocks.

Should I start it once a month? Thought it would stay parked for 3 - 6 months.

Forgot to add that I live in Canada. The truck will be out in the snow and temperatures will get down around -10C or 10F.

Yeah, send that down to me in Michigan for the winter so I can trash my old '89 ranger.

thats about all you need to do. change oil and fuel stab. if you start it it will create moisture in motor. just leave it sit.

If you must start it, make sure you let it build to normal operating temp - you don't want moisture build-up, espeically in your exhaust. I found that if I let my '02 Ranger Edge sit for a couple of weeks in northeast Indiana that my rotors form rust. In fact, I've already had to replace them and it doesn't have but 35K miles on it. I don't know what to suggest to prevent this. Perhaps there's a specially formed lubricant for this...I don't know. Good luck.
