fuel line at the tank of my 97 astro is leaking. is there a special connector? how does it connect. the line is the one closest to the tank. do i need to remove the whole line or can i just cut it and put a clamp on it thanks...edsel

ah solve my own problem...apparently the connection is a push and secure fitting. pushed the hose onto the line and it secured itself. the real question is how did it come apart? anyway no more leaks there for now. edsel....

drove the astro to work about 60 miles one way and the line disconnedted again? is there something im missing? it looks like a push and secure fit. any clues as to how it connects or maybe i need a new line.... thanks

Those connectors are called "quick connectord". It took me 1.5 hours to get mine apart.
I found a lot of rust in mine, making them difficult to woork with.
If that plastic clip is in one piece, remove the rust, reassemble, and see what happens
If it still leaks, remember that there's 60+ psi of gas there.

so it would appear a new line or connector will be required to make sure it does not come apart again?initially i was able to just push it back together, it clicked and appeared to be secure. i tested it by pulling it and attempting to separate it. it appeared to be secure except when i came off the freeway about 50 miles from home i could smell gas while driving. not good. when i got to work it was leaking like crazy. does any know if i can get away with cutting the line and putting a hose clamp there?

I don't have a good known safe answer. (60 psi of gas can be dangerous)
If the connector held together when pulled by hand, maybe vibration is bouncing it apart.
Maybe try something like silicon chaulk on the connector (when it's assembled) to prevent vibration, and see what happens.
If it doesn't work, at least it's a cheap try, and not much effort.
Hopefully some-one else will write
