I have a 2005 Rubicon and the zipper in the rear window has come apart. Chrysler says it's fair wear and tear even though the Jeep is only a year old and the top has been on only about 3 months.
Anyone else had a problem with these tops?
Is there a route around the dealer?
Has anyone ever had one of these zippers replaced?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I'm willing to bet, no matter how much you kick, scream or cry, they arent gonna help. I'd find a local "Top Shop", upholstry, convertible repair shop, and get it fixed there. I checked on getting mine fixed earlier this year, and they were gonna charge 75.00 to fix the zipper. Much better than buying a new top.

Ya, that's what I thought. My wife sews; when she looked at the zipper she knew the manufacture and style. She said she had used numerous YYK zippers and that some just fail out of the box. She noted that the tight bend is probably a problem area which is a design flaw. She is a bit idealistic and thinks Jeep should replace the zipper because it's the right thing to do, ya right.
It's a sad commentary on the conditions of the American Automobile Industry. All too many people today have a word for it, it's TOYOTA. Well that's off-subject. We'll try our local Top Shop and perhaps go to three zippers, two vertical and one horizontal to keep away from the narrow bends which are hard on zippers.
Thanks for the reply, see ya.
