wow, I never realized how stupid some people are out there. I was just on evolution.net and some idiot actually took his car (Evo 8) to a body shop to have his CF hood installed then complained that the body shop did not order and install hood pins for him!
How retarded do you have to be to not know how to take off a hood and bolt another one on? its only 4 freaking bolts! [/rant]
ok back on topic, apperently hood pins are a real mistery to some.
its not hard, your gonna need:
-Gloves, if you can find gloves that cover your forearm even better, if not just wrap you arms in plastic bags.
-a drill or dremel.
-some kind of glue or silicone or paste.
- a screw driver.
ok first step is pop open your hood and find a good place to put the two posts that will go thorugh the hood.
right above the headlights on that sheet metal that seperates the lights from the engine, there are two holes already there, one one each side. those will do perfectly and you can avoid drilling under the hood.
now install the posts and tighten them up. now place some of that glue, paste, silicone on top of the posts and lower the hood. let the hood come down and smush the paste. the reason I do this is so it automatically marks where to drill the hood so that the posts can go through. now lift the hood and you already have your marks where to drill.
wrap up you hands and the reason for the gloves or plastic bags is cause when you drill youll get fiberglass all over your arms and it itches like crazy.
once the holes are drilled lower the hood and make sure the posts go though. shut the hood completely with the posts all the way though and lay the fasteners ontop of the hood so you can see how the finished product will look like. now with the fasteners in place use a small drill bit to drill the three holes that hold the fastener to the hood.
lift up the hood, hold the fateners in place, place the steel retainers under the hood to bolt the littel screws through and screw them in tight.
thats it!
here is another thread to help out in case I left something missing.
