My mother-in-law has a 96 with an idling problem. She went to start the car this morning but it wouldn't start untill she pressed the gas pedal. It would start but then die when she let off the pedal. Wouldn't idle at all. Anyone have any ideas as to what I should check first? I don't have alot of experience with the newer Monte Carlos and don't wanna spend alot ot time looking at things that are not bad. I don't believe the fuel pump is malfunctioning since it will run with the gas pedal pressed.
And yeah...it is my mother-in-laws car but gotta earn them brownie points ... if you know what I mean :iceslolan

Should be scanned to check the idle air control, any check engine lite? You could clean the throttle body and remove the iac and clean the carbon off the pintle.
