Howdy, quick question about a 2001 LS v8

I was just wondering what the redline was, and what the rev limiter was set at.
According to a friend of mine, he said his car's tach was pegged at the 9K redline.
I kindly disagreed with him and stated that it may have been an indicator error, but there was pretty much no way that the motor would be able to rev to 9K.
He stated that the redline was around 6500, I figure fuel cut may be at 6750 ish. I cannot imagine the motor reving to 9K.
Now, I for one am not a Ford guru by any means, but the 3.9L doesn't seem like a motor to have lightweight valves, super strong retainers and springs that stay put till 9K...
Nor do I think the bottom end would be able to sustain 9K for any period of time really.
Just wondering if I was correct with my assumptions.
Thanks in advance...
