Engine Light Comes On and Off

Well I have a 1995 Dodge avenger ES and the engine light comes on and off randomly?? It dosn't effect the way the car run. I read somewhere that there is a connector behind the left headlight the get corroded. I don't know what connector they are talking about because the the fuse panel, computers, and many other connectors are also there. Please help!!!

Dont worry about it my Avenger does that to. But it might help if you take your gas cap off and shake it and tap it against your hand. Theres a sensor in there that gets dirty and can cause that to come on. OR if you have a code checker take that and wipe that code clear and problem solved.

If you don't have a code reader any local automotive store such as checkers, autozone, or advanced auto parts should let you use theirs.

A friend of my (a mechanic) - just disconnects the battery for a bit & let the computer resets - usually does the trick, when my engine light comes on & off.

I think there is a self diagnostic you can do by turning the key: on, off, on, off, and back on. Then the check engine light will flash a message through "moors code" kind of. I can check my book also but there are two different check engine messages. One is a flashing one and the other just stays on. My book said something about it. I would just go to an auto store they usually scan for free. Disconnecting the battery is just temporary and if there is a problem the computer will detect it again, just kind of a trick on the computer to refresh it.
