i have a 96 tour but i also test drove one with the ztech with a stick and it was slow as hell had to have it to the floor to go fast than i drove the 2.5 with an automatic and loved it but i was wondering if the six speed out of focas svt would fit in my 96 any response or comentary would be great ps i have beat v8s with my baby v6 like a 2000 dodge dokata with the 4.7 5 speed that can do a burn out in to 4 gear fastest truck i have seen but tours are the shit :evillol:

no it will not fit since the bellhousing is for a zetec. Secondly, its much weaker than the standard 5 speed MTX-75 in the contour.

Surpisingly, a 5 speed zetec is almost as fast as a V6 slushbox automatic. Sad i know, but it just goes to show how superior the MTX-75 is to the CD4E automatic.

This is asked so much over on www.contour.org its actually a stickied thread in the transaxle branch.

well, your V6 should feel faster. It has more torque than the zetec. Its just the CD4E takes FOREVER to shift which kills 1/4 mile times. Not to mention, launching with the mtx kills the atx everytime.

I think thats normal, thats a ford slushbox for you. :screwy:

the CD4E has its fair share of problems. There are some people who are fortunate and haven't had any problems. It runs on the hot side to begin with due to a bad placement of the tranny cooler, which eventually just tears itself down within.

The MTX-75 has really only one downfall and thats the stock differential. It hates wheel hop, and can shatter. Although, replacing it with an aftermarket Torsen or Quaife limited slip differential, makes the MTX-75 pretty much indestructable...at least what most poeple are willing to throw at it horsepower wise.
