I was looking for a used late model 2500 or 3500 diesel truck. I found some on a web site. I call on them and they said they had the two still on the lot. Of course, they have been sold. So, I decided to pay them back by going through the whole process of buying a new 2005 ST 4wd that was listed at $37880.00. I drove it around, sat down with the salesman, and filled out the pre application. I was about to tell them I was not interested, when without hardly balking on prices, the manager drops the price to $29880.00. My wife was not present, so it was a great way to escape the pressure by saying " I have to run it by the boss." Is this a good deal? Do you think I could go lower if I balked? Mind you, they did bluff me into coming to see two used truck they did not have on the lot at $2.79 a gallon. Any advise?

Hope this isn't too late!!

That doesn't sound too bad. The ST (I have a 1500) is a low/no option machine that they have a tough time getting rid of, since no electric windows/door locks/etc. You might try to offer them a bit less and see if they'll take it. My list price was 25K and I got the truck for 17.5.

My brother bought a loaded '05 2500 diesel off the lot, they had it listed at 56K (!!!) and he talked them down, over 2 days, to 34K. Good luck with it!

(also, check out consumer reports to see what the dealer paid)
