1995 Ford Probe Starter Gone

My starter went out on my probe and I am trying to push it into a better space to work on it. It won't shift into nuetral so that I can move it. The battery is dead and this sucks. Its a 4cyl.

if the car is sitting on a slight hill it may need to be rocked a little to disengage park. depending on year you may also have to push the brake pedal to activate a relay that hold it in park also. p.s. make sure it has a good battery in case of the relay thing.
