so my last post was about how i was on the highway and i lost power to my car i pressed on the gas and the rpms nor the speed would move i started to pull over and my car shut off as i was decelerating, my mecahinic has had it for a week and he could only take a "peek" at it and he says it looks to him like my t-belt jumped a tooth or so, now is this possible like is that how it happens i figured the timing belt would have fallin off or somthing i say its there any damagee to my motor and he says idk ill find out when i start ripping it appart, now i say are you sure its not the fuel pump of colleged injector or fuel related the way it cut out he says not by the sound of it who can help as to whats goin on i dont have the money right now to rebuild my motor i just had a new motor put in with 35,000 miles less than a yr ago please help any ideas or suggestions whould be greatly appreciated

With that engine rebuild you replaced the timing belt right? Because if so I bet the belt slipping would only be 40% likely. When you press the gas without being in gear do you hear the engine rev at all? Also do you hear any new, weird sounds comming from the engine or exhaust? And lastly...clutch replacement. Have you replaced the clutch recently? You sure the clutch isn't slipping and needs to be replaced? Just know that what the mechanic says isn't always right...

if your timing belt slipped or broke, you would most likely know it lol. our engines are interference engines so the valves would smash into the top of the pistons and make a loud noise and the car would just die. A timing belt doesnt USUALLY snap in half, the teeth on it usually get worn and break off causing the belt to slip and mess everything up. what your describing sounds like a possible t-belt but hopefully not! Good luck!

Why don't you do a compression test and then a leak down test if necessary. You can do a compression test yourself for about $20.
