I have a K&N Induction Kit but am unsure whether its working to its full potential. Someone has suggested fitting a heatshield around it but I haven't seen any.
Has anyone any links/advice on fitting heatshields and whether they are worth the effort or not.
I have a 1997 316 compact.
Cheers

however, i'd stick with the k&n in the stock airbox. without the heatshield you're probably losing a few ponies you thought you'd be gaining. there's too much warm air in the intake.
just my $0.02

You definately need a heat shield.... unless you have the intake all the way at the bottom of the engine. Locating it there could put you in jeopardy of sucking in water on rainy days. There are a few people on bimmerforums.com that have made their own heat shields for the 4cyls.
