but wtf ?
Aoshima makes a series of those kind of cars with all the crazy parts, so we can build them in scale form, if desired. Might be an interesting build, at least raise some eyebrows at the local contest.

What the hell?!?
What is wrong with those peoples?!?
6-feets tall exhaust pipes, longer hoods, fat lips, weird body kits (this one pass...), wings on the hood and too big wings.
Bigger not mean more speed and more handling!! It's like American japan!!
Why scrapp those Toyotas ( Celica, correct me if I'm wrong.) with all the ugly stuff I saw??
Is that a joke or these peoples are REALLY driving thoses things??
:screwy: :loser: :screwy: :loser: :screwy: :loser: :banghead:

People really do this in Japan.
I think they have the really big front bumpers because the old (80's) Japanese race cars were like that.

Thanks for the good site. By the way, those cars might sound ugly to outside Japan as most of us had never seen those in our life  but it's rather popular in Japan, a very culture vehicle to them like Vanning vehicles.
I like those idea, sound crazy but good reference, thanks.

Exactly. They're "Yanki" style cars - its not serious, its individual expression. There may be a bosozoku connection involved, though most bosozoku cars are slightly more restrained than some of those - still way over the top, with a lot of the same cues, but more driveable.
And yeah, like Malsheem noted, Aoshima pretty constantly have the "Works" or "Works no Taka" series going, which gets you standard 70's car kits (cedric, celica, skyline, MX41 chaser etc) with massive wheelarch flares, external oil coolers and so on. They also do the chiki chiki series with the stretchwalls...If only they'd combine the "Works" with the stretchwall wheels...But while the chikichiki series are only sporadically available, the "works" series stuff is available quite often.
Awesome website anyway, I'm a huge Japanese nostalgia car culture fan, thankyou for the link.

Aoshima does make a "Yankee" series and just as well the "Vanning" series. They also did a "Blister" series like the extreme VIP cars on that link. Weird, wild stuff.
While most of the stuff is not my cup of tea, I think it's good that they make stuff that touches many facets of Japanese auto enthusiasts. This probably also explains why many of these series of kits are never marketed outside of Japan.

All of you will not believe what I have to say: after passing a part of yesterday's evening to see wild thing and read this morning that Aoshima made these kind of stuff make me want to build one of these...
Where, on the Internet, can I find those? Are they well build?

It's funny you mentioned that. I felt the same way. Picked up one of those crazy Yankee kits yesterday. Figured it would be a fun, quick build to get me out of my slump (as I've only completed 1 model this year).
Like I mentioned earlier, since I don't think they are marketed outside Japan, they don't make many of those kits (as compared to stuff like the CWest R34 for example). Hobbyworld is the only major online shop that I've seen that carries them. Some of the kits have been OOP for awhile, so auctions are probably your best bet for those.
As for the kit quality, I can only speak for the Blister and Yankee kits as they are basically based off many of the older VIP sedans, just with a few extra parts added. They are decent. My only problem with them, which is something you'll see a few Aoshima kits, is that the extra bumpers and side skirts are designed to fit over the OEM pieces, so they don't sit flush. Some adjustment is needed, either cutting off the OEM piece and fitting the add-on bumper, or some putty to smooth out the joins.

HLJ seem to keep the blister fender kits ("The Works" and "Works no Taka") in stock when they're available, as I recall they've had the cedric 330, celica LB, and C110 skyline and Toyota MX41 MKII a number of times, all on backorder now though :( and as an aside, the Hilux low rider appears to be OOP :( .
I ordered 2 sets of stretchwall Longchamp XR4s, a set of yayoi sakuras with stretchwalls, an a set of SSR MK1 stretchwalls today, along with the other "Accessories" that come with them. :D
Bloody expensive as "wheel and accessory" sets (1,400JPY each), but I figured I might not get a chance to buy them otherwise.
