buying a cherokee

When is this vehical considered over the hill when it comes to high miles and what are some comman problem with them.(i have 2500 to spend)

I spent $1,800 on my daughter's 88 that had 167,000 on it...got a good deal I think. I've seen Cherokees on this forum with over 300,000 on them (I-6 engine). Common problems are "Death Wobble" Ignition issues (coil and sensors) and fuel delivery (mostly long crank due to bad pump/pressure valve)...oh, and a lot of oil leaks :)

Well I have a 88 Jeep with over 200K and although I have gone through the standard problems that were easily fixed. I have a total price to this is $2100 after owning it for a year. If you do your homework you will find that sometimes working on your Jeep can be fun. I have lifted, put on the big tires and racks & lights on it. I enjoy it greatly.

Its only "over the hill" when it costs more to repair then its worth. I would say that that is really the call of the owner..
