what kinda engine is in my car?

i gotta question i just went to buy spark plugs for my car and it said the motor thats in it is a 4g63 non-turbo....

well some other people told me the motor thats in my car is a 420a dodge motor???


my car is a 92 ECLIPSE GS with a DOHC 2.0 ...so hopfully the motor thats in my car is not the neon engine becuase i heard storys about neons....


also if my engine is a 4g63 non-turbo....does that mean its the same think inside and out as the 4g63 turbo? just with out the turbo?

also where can i find out where its at i know its in front of the motor but do i gotta take off the exhaust heat shield to see it? and is it on the right side or left

You have a 4g63 N/T. It is not quite the same as the turbo motor, the compression is slightly higher, as far as I know. No, you do not have the *420A*, which is neither a neon or eclipse motor. It's a Dodge motor, put into a neon, eclipse, or sebring. Yes the 420A sucks, but without a turbo yours isn't much better for speed or anything.

There's a white sticker on the firewall. It's say DSM then the engine code and such underneath it. It's the 4g63 unless it's been swapped because I have a 1993 GS DOHC and it's a 4g63. Mostly the same as a 4g63t, but higher compression pistons due to it being n/a. I think that's right...?

I heard a lot of people say that 420a engines are a lot more reliable then turbo engines :). Its been said a lot on the net in other forums. Besides 420a doesnt have any chance of crankwalk :O like turbo ones.

every motor ever produced in the world has a chance of crankwalk if it has a crankshaft.

the 4G63 turbo motors have 7:1 compression or in that ball park and the NT motor has if i remember right 8.5:1 compression.

well the 4g63 does have a turbo lol which means there are more things to go wrong. so yes im most cases the 420a will be more reliable lol its not prooven, but this is what i would think anyways

Oh i tried to sell my car during the weekend ASAP for 3k.. but no one bought it in time... so then the GSX got sold like on a wednsday :disappoin And then when someone finally wants to buy it... they called me 2 weeks later... like 3 people called and i said no. SIGH**** i guess it wasn't meant to be... hahaha My plan was to get that GSX... lower it the throw my rims on.. take off the side skirts and make it look exactlly like my RS... and then Race the people i lost to. hahaha ...but that plan didnt happend :lol2:
