F150 5L 302 Automatic and Transfer Case

I got a deal on a '81 F150 4x4 5L V8 302 with the C4 Automatic Transmission. And I can't find any information on what kind of a transfer case it has. I found info on the C4, how its decent for offroading strength. And I can only assume a 302 is better on gas then a 350 on the roadways. There was a write up somewhere on the net where if I add a few simple upgrades, like cylinder head I can get just over 400 HP on a 302 engine. But what that costs I am still trying to find out. The axles are either a 8.8 or a 9". I am not sure what the front axle is, I can only guess its a Dana 44. But I could be wrong. If any of you have info on this it would be greatly appreciated. I will be buying this rig in the next few weeks. Just doing some research now before I drive a long ways to check it out and get it. I got rid of my last vehicle, because a jeep it just too small. And I need a truck for construction and/or oil patch work.

Thanks

Ok I found out its a Borg Warner 1345 with a C4 auto and a D44 front, Ford 9" rear. So can I install a TH400 on a '81 Ford 5L 302? or what other types can I hook up to it. I kind of what more then the 3 speeds a C4 offers for highway driving. And as far as Transfer cases go, can I hook up a NP to a C4, or can I hook a NP to a TH400?

LOL ok its late its my third time editing this thing and I found out they sell adapter plates to for a Ford 302 5L V8 to a GM TH400. So that means I can easily fit a NP203 or just any old NP to a TH AutoTrans. It took me several hours but its all done.

Lincolnsonline.com (http://www.lincolnsonline.com/tech.html) has a lot of info on upgrading the 5.0 and ford trannys. Worth a stop.
