Well my friend is setting up my old turbo(t-25) on his car(civic) and he was wondering about the coolant line on the turbo. The local shop(which I hate!!!) told him he could just ditch the the coolant line but that sounds wrong to me. He still needs it right? I said the oil line would be too lube it and the coolant line to cool it, makes sense right?

Makes sense to me, but the oil does do some cooling.

the oil does some cooling but not too much. it passes thru the turbo so quickly that it really doesnt have enough time to pick up much heat. running a turbo designed for water cooling w/o it will greatly reduce the turbos lifespan.

You will kill the turbo without coolant, its designed for coolant, unlike some do not have coolant running through them.
