What constitutes 'matching numbers'? All the numbers I have found (all tags, door, engine compartment) match, but I cant find them on the engine... would they be the same numbers? It is the correct engine and carb setup per the code, but how do I know?

Somebody once told me the engine serial number on 289's was stamped underneath the starter (i.e you have to pull the starter to find them) I haven't actualy looked though, but let me know if you try and it this the case.
