wont shift back to 2wd

hey i just got a 86 tercel 4wd and was working fine until i tryed drinving in 4wd the rear end keeps locking up now why would it do this i dont know but i dont need the 4wd but now i can not shift it back anysugestins?

does the car still have the owners manual? if so see what it says about how to place and remove the car in 4wd. :smile:
I owned a 1983 NISSAN 4wd pickup and to get it completely out of 4wd I had to put it in reverse and back up a few feet. that way the hubs would disengage. you might want to try that with your car. :2cents:
another option is to call the a toyota dealer and ask them if their is some trick to get car out of 4wd. :banghead: good luck.
