si engine and the hf

ive noticed that the si engines seem to blow up at a lower milage than the hf mine blew up at 130000 and as far as i know it was never driven very hard my cusin purchased the car in 95' and drove it off and on until 03 when i bought the car she had a little fender bender and did not want to fix it so $250 and it was mine yes!!! any way my friend had a hf and he ran the dog shit out of it and it didnt die until 284000 miles also my parts car is an hf and it has 237000 miles

i dont know that is pretty odd for a honda to go at 130000 miles. it tends to be a honda will go 250000 pending on how you drive.

yea it depends how the car was driven and how it was taken care of. If it was well maintained and cared for it could last a long time. But if it gets abused and not taken care of then parts will wear out faster and die out, good luck and let see some pics......

my buddy drew had a 89 si with just over 200,000 miles on it and he beat the hell out of it. it would still be running today if the alternator didnt overcharge and fuck up the ecu.

i dont know but im thinking when it was hit from the front mabie it knocked some thing out of balance ol well out with the stock and in with the vtec and she runs better than ever as far as pics i have alot of photos of the repairs and swap but i dont have a scaner i will put some of the digital soon

An si blowing at 130K is very unusual, who knows what the downfall of your engine was unless you take it all apart and find out. Mmy theory on why si engines probably wouldnt last as long is just because they are always running at higher rpm than what and hf engine would, so you could say the si engine is under more stress/heat than an hf engine is at any given time.

132,000 when my d16a6 blew. My parents bought the car brand new in March, 1990 and it was my moms car, and I know she didn't rev that thing much. When the engine blew, it was before I really drove fast, and never raced or anything.
