Did the Oxygen Sensor work? 'Cause I have the same problem...except I see the white smoke whenever I stop or am idling.

Smoke at idle usually indicates valve stem seals or valve guides are worn.
Does it smell like oil or anti-freeze?

It smells like anti-freeze.
Is my best bet getting a gasket set?

blown head gasket, anyone? had this same thing happen to my CRX, i continued to drive on it (oops) until it became really bad and wanted to overheat as soon as it warmed up, then finally broke down and replaced the head gasket.

Yes, it does sound like a head gasket. 2.8s aren't "notorious" for it, but it happens.
You'll need new gaskets (a "headset" is called for), and you should have the heads checked by a shop. Pressure testing is the most accurate way to check for cracks unless the heads are completely disassembled and cleaned, where magnefluxing (magnetic particle inspection) can be as good.
Chances are the head surfaces will require attention as well. Always use NEW head bolts in a case like this.
