Highway Reliability?

Hey all. I was just curious about how reliable metros are on highway trips. i have a 91 auto. i've done a LOT of work to it and it is running the best probably in a long time. idles smooth, starts when i need it too, and has decent acceleration. anyway i have to drive for about an hour and half on highway and i was curious how well these little cars run on trips like that? i've owned this car for two years but have never taken it on a long trip on highway. thanks!

I travel to work on the highway for about 30 mins every day. I drive at a speed of about 110 km/h, thats like 70mph. Never had any problems, find it a very comfortable ride. Even taken it on 3-4 hours trips up north. Great on gas.

I live 56 miles from where I work. I have often driven my 92 Metro 5 speed up and down the interstate at speeds of 70-75 MPH and consistently gotten around 45 mpg. The ride is not as good as my carpool minivan, but if you turn up the radio it drowns out the wind noise and it gets me there and back home again!

Hey, Steve, I will be doing exactly the same thing (but "only" 50 miles) when I buy your '92, hopefully this weekend. Today the Dodge dealer is supposed to install the trailer wiring that the #*%^@&! Freightliner dealer never installed on our Sprinter van. Then I will be able to dolly it home. I trust the highway reliability but the dolly will allow me to get the car without bringing the wife & the kids all the way down to the Buckeye zone.

Hey everyone. ShlockRod is Ted and he has just bought my Metro (it's one of the 3 I had). Ted, you're going to love the Metro. Getting back to the subject, I told one of my co-workers about my Metro and the mileage and dependability so he went out and bought one himself. He got a 2000 with 16,000 miles on it. A basic 3 cylinder 5 speed. He always gets 47-49mpg and loves the car. He has around 130,000 miles on it in 4 years and hasn't had a bit of trouble. His daily commute is about 75 miles one way. Yep! They're good little cars.
