See, here's the thing about Apple and their iPod: they're going to rule the fucking world.

I love Apple soo much. I still have my 20 GB Ipod from two years ago.. .still works great but maybe saving up some money for this one!!!

yep, they're being cunning, starting with more sort'a "consumer" stuff, so everyone buys one, an people like it. my sister got an ipod an having never used one wanted an apple notebook. oh that's right she got one too ! but all magazines use apple, all photo agancies (paparazzi) use apple for photo editing etc..



i hate apple, with the close window button on the wrong side, i just hate them. itunes sucks an i just dont like the apple system. they look good an i love the designs but i'd never buy one (i hope).

Apple is far, far better for workstations in graphic and video editing.

It reminds me of this phone I saw in a commercial today. It looked like a regular phone with the buttons on the front, but it folded out hot dog style to reveal a keyboard and screen for internet usage, games, 2 ways, IM, music, psychic readings... everything.

it's really more of an update to the normal ipod that has video capability but wtvs... I'M SOO PISSED! i have 20 shares of apple stock and yesterday it went down like 2.50, the day that they announced record profit!! wtf?!

Right.. because a small, handheld computer that can store thousands of songs, photos, and videos that you can play anywhere has no substance at all.

Uh.. no.. Apple makes Mac, and Apple makes iPods. Therefore, it's an Apple iPod. The original creator, Tony Fadell, wasn't even a part of Apple, it was originally going to be made by Phillips.

basically i like PCs, i have one, i can use it, i had an ipod an had trouble with gettin music into itunes because it needed converting an wouldn't work with protected content music, like all the CDs loaded on this one im using now.

i think so, but i took it back where i bought it an they gave me the oney back there an then. i didn't want another after that.

my mate's broke after 3 hours, he bought it, charged/uploaded it an when he left the house it got broken.

they aren't strong enough an they can bend which cracks the screen. they aren't strong enough to resist "bending" an for something thats meant to be able to "slip" into your pocket they break when people sit down, thats what happened to mine. i sat down, took it out to change song an it was broken. i put the back against a ruler's edge an it literaly had a bow in it, the middle was about 1/2 mm back from the ends.

what the hell is the big deal about that. check out the rca lyra...it's been out for a year...bigger screen and 20 GB. does the same thing. and u can use it as a digital vcr. and it won't break...and it's not an apple.

How did you manage to do that?!?! I've got 2 old Power Macs from I think '97 and '93 not sure on the years exactly but it's around there and they've never once crashed or had a single issue. If I didn't want to play games on my computer I'd have all Apple stuff. Which brings me to my next point...

It's called general understanding. Just because PC literally means 'personal computer', doesn't mean it can't be understood as a 'windows running personal computer'.

I crashed my dual G4 once... damn "kernal panic"... it took mad skillz on my behalf to do it... turned out my pram battery was dead.

Anyhoo, I can open EVERY DAMN EMAIL on my mac because NO DUMBASS TOOLS bother to do stupid shit to destroy other people's macs!!!!

i've got an HP iPAQ RX3715, get a one or Gb card, i can put whole vovies on it, it has built in speakers and an amazing amp built in, a good screen, which is big, media player (way better than itunes) an i can have widescreen etc... i'd chose one of these over an ipod anyday.

As always, my trendy friends went out and got these. The ipod itself is great, but i just don't see much use with the video feature.

Uh.. you're comparing a pocket pc to an mp3 player. You might as well be comparing a car to a bicycle, both accomplish the same thing, but one does so through a completely different system.

Yeah apple sucks ass, that's why they OWN 90% OF THE MP3 MARKET.

Jobs created an instantly recognizable product that will still be relevant 10 years from now, just like the iMac, and that's all i got to say about that.

i don't understand the point of a video ipod. who wants to watch video clips on a 2" screen? the only reason to buy it is if you are one of those people who just has to have the newest in pointless technologies. it's all a who's dick is bigger contest "i got an 80gb ipod" "oh yeah, mine plays video." in the end it's only good for listening music because you know you'd never watch anything over 10sec on that dinky little screen.

yes, but for the same money you can get a pocket PC like i have, and either a pair of 1gb memory cards or one 2gb card (its cheaper to buy two 1gb) and i know you cant keep as much stuff on it but its still good, it has a damn big screen excellent sound quality, bluetooth an wireless etc..

this is just me, i prefer my pocket PC, an i have owned an ipod, and to me the pocket PC is better. of course there are others that will disagree, this is just what i think.

The iPod has several things going for it.

Marketing. I see iPod TV commercials all the time. Other DAPs? No. Other than a few newspaper ads (by local stores, not the manufacturer), when I had a PC Gamer subscription, I'd see an ad for the Creative Muvo every so often. Since the iPod ads are the only ones people see, people think "DAP = iPod." Or more accurately, they think "mp3 player = iPod" <_<

Ease of use. iTunes is easy to use; the iPod's interface is easy to use. And it transfers your songs, your ratings, your playlists, hell even your EQ settings between the two.

The iTunes Music Store. It's the biggest one out there, and unless you use something like JHymn (which Joe Public doesn't know about), your downloads will only play in iTunes and on your iPod.

Accessories. Most other DAPs have, at most, a case and maybe a remote. Want a robotic dog that dances to your music? iPod-only. Want one of those stretchy silicone skins? Maybe if you search around online, but you won't find them at the mall unless you want the iPod version (marketing again).

That is why most people go for an iPod. It's everywhere, and it's simple. And now it has video.

As for me, I have an iRiver H320. It has many features the iPod lacks (USB-on-the-go, FM radio, line-in and line-out, SRS/WOW effects, and more). It's a UMS device, so I can just plug it in and the computer will recognize it regardless of OS (all it requires is USB support). Its sound quality is much higher than that of an iPod. It doesn't directly support iTMS/ Connect/ Napster/ other DRM-infected downloads, but there are ways around that. I even have video playback (only at 10 fps, but hey, it was designed as audio-only -- video support came in a firmware upgrade, and it looks much better than you'd think). All I'm really missing is an interface that's as easy to use as the click wheel. Oh, and by the way... my player is older than the iPod Photo ;)

No, you still don't understand, you owned an ipod nano. You're comparing that to an OS running pocket pc. Apples and oranges. It really is like comparing an ipod to a laptop.

And pocket PCs cost $100-200 more than an iPod, and they still don't have the 60 gbs that an iPod can have.

yea being able to play video on your ipod is pretty much useless. Screen is so small, and u upload it from your comp. Why watch it on a puny screen when u can watch it on your 17 inch monitor.

I mean, I have no intention on buying a video iPod as long as my regular iPod is working. But, if I was buying a new mp3 player, I'd have to go with the video iPod.

One thing I am always hopeful for is a videogame ipod (then video would be useful). I was hopeful for some crazy announcement between apple and nintendo. It made sense to me since both have such a fanboy following. Not only that, Nintendo announced a downloadable game function for their new console -- so itunes would have been a great platform for it.

I would never buy an iPod with a videogame system built in. 1) too bulky, 2) too stupid looking, 3) overpriced, 4) I don't play portable games anyways

Yes in fact, I do... With an APC battery pack strapped on my back.

For videos, I just use my PSP. It's a bigger screen than ipod, the only problem is space though. those 1 gig sticks are freakin expensive!
