Camber kit Install

I'm looking at the camber kits for my car. I don't get exactly how they work, or how to install them. It looks like they're just a bunch of bolts. Does anyone have one installed? Is it hard to do yourself? Instructions? Thanks.

I installed an eibach rear camber kit on my car. It wasn't really that hard, We had to jack up the back, take the rear tires off, take the upper control arm off. Then take the control arm mounts off and replace them with the camber kit mounts, put everything back together and adjusted it the best I could. I took it to get a full alignment the next day.

I have never installed a front camber kit but it shouldn't be to hard.

What does a camber kit do? Sorry for the ignorant question.

Fixes the toe in (camber) on a dropped car. So the tires are not facing inward, they are fully flat on the ground

Yea You can actually make your own camber kit. Never done it before, but i have definitly seen it done before. It just a series of washers that are used to reposition the control arm.

i wouldn't mess with making your own...just buy them.

and YES, you do need them if you lowered your car and don't want to burn up tires. i ruined a $600 set of tires before i realized what the fuck was going on. i installed my front and rear camber kit and am still on the same tires with normal treadwear.

AbsoluteGTR;

Thanks alot!

I would never make my own anything, espically when dealing with, oh I don't know, the suspension. Sounds dangerous. It's bad enough my whole car was ghetto-rigged wired, but I don't want to do my suspension.

Camber and Toe are two entirely different things. Camber is the tilt in or out vertically, and toe in or toe out is the tires pointing in or out at the front of tire.

I found camber kits take out too much, so I took them off. The rear is just a matter of spacing the control arm out from the body, moving the top of the tire out. Washers would work fine. There is nothing mysterious in a set of spacers and longer bolts ;) I always meant to take some washers to the track and add one at a time watching my 60 foots. I know the 3+ degrees was hurting my launching, even though tire wear was perfectly even and they lasted me 50k miles..

The fronts are not so easy. The typical kit has an offset bushing. But again, I prefered the 2-2.5 degrees I had up front. By setting the toe to zero (dead straight) I eliminated the uneven tire wear, and the fronts also lasted 50k miles.

So IMO, tire wear is not a good reason to adjust the camber. Setting toe to zero can take care of that. It should be changed based on traction/handling needs. And in my case, the car could stick turns much better with the camber, on my car, with particular suspension, and other such disclaimers. My two cents. Carry on. ;)
