As I found when trying to identify what cam would be best for my rod, there are many considerations that have started to emerge in this thread.
The best advice I can give is to learn about it through searching the 'net for assistance in choosing the right cam. Comp and Crane may have some info, as well as here http://www.camcraftcams.com
There are gear ratios, rpm bands, piston, head, spring clearances, etc.
Comp cams also has an online cam help that allows you to fill out a form and they will recommend a cam for your application.
Happy hunting,
Nigel
