94 Si rotors heating up

I've got a 94 civic si hb with the 4-wheel disc brakes, the entire thing stock except for the sound system. I changed the brake pads two days ago after driving for probably half an hour, and when I did, the rotors were hotter than a firecracker, and the tip of the cv shaft was even worse. The pads themselves weren't quite as bad, but you still couldn't hold them for more than a second or two. After that, I replaced the wheel bearing on the driver's side, but the lugs were still warm to the touch after just driving a few miles. The guys at the parts store suggested changing out the brake fluid or else it could be the calipers, so I changed the brake fluid and it's not quite as bad as it was (but I also still have air in the brake lines) and I really don't think it's the calipers, they seem to move much more freely than the ones did on my 91, which doesn't have this problem at all. The rotors also don't seem to be warped or even really worn, and the car goes down the road just fine, no pulling to either side or hitching. Anyone have any suggestions?

Put the same brand pads on as were on before...maybe. Also you should get your rotors turned when you do your brakes. Out of curiosity, what brand did you buy?

I have no idea what brand pads were on it before (only had the car a month or so now), but they had the same problem, it was when we pulled the wheels off to change them that we discovered it. The pads I put on were whatever Advanced Auto carries, I got the "Gold" (ie mid-performance) ones.

How much car experience do you have?
Everything you mentioned sounds almost normal.
You can drive around the block and hit a couple stop signs and the parts will be to hot to handle.

I have run them so hot racing that the rotors will glow red.

Well, this is my second car, my first being a 91 Civic DX. I understand that some heat is normal, but this just seems like too much, my 91 isn't (yes, I still have it) nearly this bad. Also, the rear discs don't heat up nearly as much, the lug nuts are too hot to handle after only going a few miles.

Sounds normal bro......The front brakes are the majority of your stopping power, therefore will get hotter.
I don't think you have anything to worry about.
The lugs getting hot is normal.
Now if they get hot enough where water sizzles......be concerned.
Hope I offered some helpful words...
Good Luck
