In Progress - Slammed Isuzu Vehicross

I started this kit as a quickie build a few days ago.

I mocked it up and really didn't like the stock ride height.

I like it much better after drilling a few holes in the chassis and adding some 19" wheels.

I shaved off all the bumps from the doors roof, and tailgate. It gives it a nice smooth look. And makes it simple to polish after clear. :)

I decided to 2 tone the paint on this and not paint the lower plastic pieces black. Both colors are Cobra colors paint. The top is Ferrari Blue Mirabeau, and the lower half is Porsche Polar Silver.

The interior parts are all cleaned up and ready for some paint. Will update soon.

Fairly rare kit of a rather rare machine, though I see them regularly up here. I really like your simple modifications and the color combination is nice. What happened to ol' dude up there? Cool build, anyhow.

Cool conversion to the old Moon Buggy. I had mine built a nanosecond after Tamiya released it, posted pics on the internet (CARS old website w/an email link), and was getting all kinds of people asking how I got one so soon, how I got it customized (they were doing internet searches for VehiCROSS). Turns out they were thinking it was a 1:1, and I had my model built before Isuzu was selling them in the US! Most of them were guys who ordered them and were jealous I had one first :evillol:

I've ridden in one. It's cool looking, but it's just a gas-guzzling, hard riding/crude-ass truck ('cause it's an Amigo underneath and riding to Macon and back in the back seat was almost torture) :icon16:

lots to like...
What wheels are those?
And, what did you mask the 2-tone with?

I've started a simple, Tamiya, 2-tone, Cobra Colors car as well and if I'm happy with my base color I'll mask the color seperation tonight.
:p

The wheels are 19" Volk CE28's. I'll repaint them something else I'm sure, I don't like that silver.

I sprayed the whole body silver, and then masked with 10mm Tamiya tape, then sprayed the blue. Good luck with your 2 tone.

Thanks for looking guys! :)

Interesting subject!
I never thought I'd see CE-28Ns on a vehiCross!

Yeah, it's been seen here before, but the pics don't work on the old thread.

Not to steal Matt's thunder :uhoh:

Mine was lowered and uses Pegasus rims and the VehiCROSS tires. Can't remember what dash I used, something w/LHD.

That is going to be a cool build! Right when I see your model I realized that it is rather familiar to me. Have you seen the game Tokyo Extreme Racer 3? They had a bunch of slammed VehiCROSS racing around with big wheels looking just like yours

I got one off of EvilBay some time back and was looking to do something different....me thinks ye caught some lighting in the bottle Matt! Now all you need is for it to snow in Atlanta to take some great outside shots.....wait it never snows in Atlanta!!!!
Bob was yours the one with the pumpkin sitting next to it at the CARS show a few years ago?

That was probably Chris Chapman's VehiCROSS. He built his monochromatic orange and put bigger chrome bling rims on it.

I had considered orange for my VehiCROSS. I'm glad I didn't now as 2 friends have the same ones. :) They both look cool.

I have the chassis and interior completed, and it is now in clear. I'll give it a few days before polish, and get the body completed.

I've also changed the wheels now to something a bit more fitting to the look I'm trying to achieve. These are some Aoshima 20's.

That interior looks cool!! Are those some sort of decal??? I like the wheels! Will they be green?

:sly: :screwy:

The seat decals come w/the kit. JDM VehiCROSS's came w/patterned seats. In the US the seats/door panels were black w/ a reddish/orange center, no patterns.

I may be in the minority, I liked the first wheels better.

I like the ce's better than the big blingers. it looked very european with the ce's as something you'd see from BMW, or Mercedes. that and I just get so tired of seeing 20" wheels everywhere, it isn't original anymore.

though I don't care for the wheels it still looks really good. I bet if it were real, and turbo'd it'd be super fast with the all wheel drive and such a light truck (for a truck)

I think the first set of wheels looked awesome. overall great job

I agree, the previous set of wheels worked better on this vehicle. These big chrome blingers belong on a Yukon or Escalade. Otherwise, the kit looks awesome.

I decided to put big wheels under mine (look here: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=352145 )

I prefer them too.

Love the color choice though.
