1996 Cutlass 3100 Transmission

I am having this odd bearing noise (grinding) on the left front of the vehicle. I replaced the hub bearing and axle.

When in reverse it seems to almost sound like a "crunch".

Today I had to apply the brakes moderately heavy (no tire skidding) but when I went to drive forward again the transmission did not seem to engage. In fact it seemed to have slipped or something while at the next stop light with the brakes applied (a surging feeling)

Any ideas? ANyone know the shop time to replace one of these monsters?

OKay just came back from the dealer it appears to be a thrust bearing will have it rebuilt...

NOW for all my posts regarding this ABS problem C1226 excessive rf wheel speed.... It's the differential causing the error not the ABS
