i'm looking to get an exhaust system for my car i went to a shop and the lady told me about 350 not including muffler for 3".she said they wouldnt do it witouth a cat, but she told me to buy one of the high flow cats so i'm posting this to ask what's better. high flow cat or test pipe? i was looking at some test pipes from SBR. for like 60 bucks (3 ") but i noticed that theres 2 types. aluminized and S.S. what's the difference?

Hey dude...you from minnesota? i think i might have seen your car at Rock Falls Oct. 8th. Well, it depends what you want, a test pipe for sure is going to be loud, but it'll give the power. If you get the 'high flow' cat, it'll be legal but you'll lose a few hp. My own words though, get the test pipe and see how it goes. :)

yes i went to rock falls but on sunday oct. 9.
i do wanna get test pipe with apex N1 muffler. because i heard that is best sounding muffler arround. but the only thing that's stoping me is the price. i have seen it in diff websites for $200 and up.

I have an extra test-pipe if you are really interested in buying one. Has about 500 miles on it and is still shiny and all. $20 plus shipping. Let me know if you are intersted

get the test pipe. Find another shop that will do it without the pipe. Tell them your car is "offroad" only

that test pipe shouldnt be that hard...shouldnt it? if that test pipe is for your car, it should be a bolt-on process.

well unless he tows his car there, they won't beleive its offroad only. Shops hate doing catless projects because they can get slammed for that shit if you get pulled over. Tell them you want a flanged cat, and a test pipe with flanges too, so that when you do go to the track, you can unbolt the cat and place in the test pipe. Unless your car needs to be "purdy" aluminized steel will be fine. Its gonna be hard to get a shitty sounding exhaust system with 3", no cat and no resonator. Muffler shouldent matter that much. Just dont get some $5 POS

If anybody is interested I have a 3'' Magnaflow cat. btw, the cat is the most restrictive thing behind the turbo. An aftermarket 3'' muffler, without a resonator, will produce very little back pressure. My :2cents:

ok since i'm trying to get a 3" turbo back. and i don't know what muffler to get. i don't want it to expensive/ so i was looking at some mufflers on ebay and i found this muffler (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBX-Greddy-Evo-Style-Universal-Muffler-Eclipse-GSX-GST_W0QQitemZ8006756324QQcategoryZ33636QQrdZ1QQcmd ZViewItem) . i'd like to get some replies on how you guys think it's gonna look on my car.i seen a spyder with a muffler like that and looks hot, but he has the greddy exhaust.

That's the same tip I have except mines the real Greddy one. It's nice...but $350 is a little steep for them to weld some stuff and put on 3" pipes. Try to talk them down to $200-250.

I got quoted about 375 for mine too. California sucks  Figure that plus the muffler 120?, cat 60? thats like 550 plus youre stuck with the cat. So I just bought the rnr racing turboback with the cat delete for 540.

damn. i just came home from another shop and this guy told me it'll be arround 500 and 550. but he wants he to buy a cat from him. for like 110 bucks. i told him i wanted to keep the stock one but he said is gonna choke it. or something like that. also he asked if i was gonna get a bigger down pipe. i thought a TURBO-BACK exhaust replaces everything from the turbo including the down pipe. so i'm just gonna go with the lady that tol dme 350.
