1999 malibu came with just am/fm radio. I want to put in a gm/delco stock cd player, will this work? Is the wiring different? I called chevy deealer, they said they didn't show a factory cd for 1999 malibu, and they think the wiring will be totally different. I want to know if this is true or can you just plug in a gm stock cd radio to the car and if so, does anyone know the cd radio model # that could do this. I have found gm cd radio on ebay that says it fits 99 malibu but i'm not convinced yet. Thanks all

I do believe there is a factory CD that f\goes into the 99. It fits in that space that is below the cigarette lighter and ash tray.

There are several that fit, (factory CD) I installed one in my 98 out of a 2000 S-10, it fit perfect. Try ebay, you should be able to get one for $40- $70

Most eBay auctions call it a "slave" or a "remote" player, and usually go for $80 to $100. They just use the nine-pin connector on the side of your stereo, and a cable usually sold seperatly for another $20. The AUX button and tape deck controls will control the CD player.

I have been wanting to do this for years, but cannot see spending $100 - $120 on a dinky single disc CD player.
