2000, Turbo, Manual Beetle Randomly Beeps at me when turning the car off

What make my Beetle Beep at me when I turn it off? It occurs randomly when I am turning off the engine. It occurs when there is plenty of gas in the tank, and is not the Beep that occurswhen the fuel is in the reserve.

Curious... MY WIFES 2001 TURBO AUTOMATIC DOES THE SAME THING. WEVE HAD IT TO THE DEALER BUT IT NEVER ACTED UP FOR THEM AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA. OURS HAS DONE IT SINCE THE CAR WAS NEW.

Instrument clusters are a very common failure on beetles.

This thread is old, but did you figure out what that it is?
Mine (2000, Automatic, GLS) does the same thing randomly specifically when I pull off the key. I check the gas and other indicators, but there is no warning every time when it happens.
I have been worndering since I bought it.
I asked my dealer, but they had no clue.
