need advice quick... ordered 225/60/16 tires to fit to my 16 inch rims and it is for a 99 grand am gt... received a email from the place i ordered stating "the size is significantly taller than the recomended size for my car which might cause clearance problems and or calibration issues" i have 225/55/16 on there now and as far as height issues i dont think there would be a problem but please reply quick to let me know if you think that will be a problem

I don't have any personal experience, but with the changes you are making I ran some quick numbers and your changing your wheel diameter by .88", less then an inch, less then 1/2" per side, I would take a quick look where your coil spring sits on the strut compared to the tire, then turn the wheel both ways to the stops to see how close it gets in the wheel well. The other thing to consider is your going to change your speed-o-meter by going with a bigger tire, it may read 2-3 mph slower then your going. Best bet is to stick with what you had, shorter sidewall = stiffer sidewall, less side wall flex. Its up to you, but its easier to change your order now and not worry about it.

Incase you want to know where my numbers come from
225/60/16
225 = tread width
60 = 60% treadwidth = sidewall size
16 = 16" rims
225 * .60 = 135 mm
135mm / 25.4 = 5.31"
16 + (5.31 * 2) = 26.62" diameter
225/60/16

60's didn't clear the bottom spring on my 01 GT, which is the same. 50's (stock) did. 55's must too, if you have them. But 60's don't. I know because once when I got all 4 new stock tires, they gave me a 60 instead of a 50 on one, and it didn't clear. Don't get 60's.
