Hi,
I bought a Chevy Venture which has been imported to Germany.
The transmission broke and I like family members in the US to ship a used one.
How can I make absolutely sure, that the transmission will be the right one for my 97 venture? Does it carry a part number that identifies the year built?
They told me a 1997 model would only run with a 1997 transmission because of the electronic. I dont want to import without being sure that it will work...
Please help! Any recommendations?
thanks
Henry

First, that post was 2 months old. If it was to be shipped it probably was shipped long ago.
The information that you gave would be fairly obvious. The key thing the OP wanted was to ensure it was the exact same. The 4T60e (and it's newer sibling the 4t65e) are more just a generic model for the transmission. The internals can vary slightly from model to model and can't be determined just from the transmission model. For instance, the final drive gear is different in our vans as compared to some cars, giving a slightly different final output shaft speed.

Well, nobody else was answering the question so I thought I would at least point out the model # for that year Venture. *shrug*
