me and my friend were driving down the highway late yesterday afternoon in his 2001 Mustang GT and up ahead we spotted a Viper, we were like whoa because those cars aren't very abundant around here so we sped up to get a closer view, but it gets better, on the back there is a Venom 550 badge, and to top it off there was a kid driving, couldn't have been more than 18 or 19 years old... does anybody know how much those cars go for and some stats how much faster they are and all that... just curious

That was daddy's car! no kid has $130,000 to spend on a car. This guy I know that, owns his own exotic car transport co. here in Jax.,had a 650R bright yellow. He didn't own it he was transporting it. He took me for a ride in the neighborhood, I have never felt that much pull in a car in my life, and the sound! All I have to say is 0-60 3.2 sec.!

Hmm I haven't seen many Vipers here in Plano. And then mainly on dealership lots. They cost around $75,000, if I had that kind of money I'd go with NSX. It's slower, but much more pleasant for regular driving.
Viper Venom runs close to 3.5 There is one called Dodge Hennessey Viper Venom 800TT wich runs 2.7 after $55,000 in engine mods  . It also covers 1/4 mile in less than 10 seconds. Could come in handy when you can't be late for work.

Well I read an article on the 650R, and they said the price as tested was $167,000. It all depends on where you get your info. Yeah, I saw the Motor Trend mag. with the orange TT Viper. The 850 is the king!

only problem is they couldnt get any trax i mean come on 700+ hp and like 800+ lb ft of torque in a car that ways what like 3000 lbs and your fastest time is a 9.99 i mean come on thats sad i saw a guy where i live with a s/c viper he said it cost him less than 25 k and most was for the s/c and hes running consistent 9.3s on streets with no air pressure with a best of 8.62 @ 162 mph on slicks have fun spending needless thousands on your viper

i went to a drag event on sunday and there was a Viper Venom 550 there. lets just say it was getting comfortably thrashed by the tuned Jap cars. Maybe the driver was useless, but it wasnt much faster than the 2 bog standard GTS's that were there. when i get the full time sheet for the event ill post the Viper's times.

Hennessey Motorsports is one of the most shittiest companies on planet earth. If anybody knows anything about dealing with their company, will agree with me.
In short, many people give them thousands and thousands of dollars and dont get shit in return.

3.2 sec 0-60, thats it! The lingenfelter 427 twin turbo does sub 2 sec 0-60 runs! Thats right 0-60 in less than 2 seconds and its a daily driver!
Ofcourse im not saying 0-60 in 3.2 is slow just thought an 8 liter twin turbo could do better.

The Venom 550 wasn't TT. The Venom 805 did 0-60 in 2.3. The problem with the Venom series is the man that makes them. Hennesy is a snake himself. There are much better tuners out there. It is not the car, it is the dumbass working on it.

Very true, because their is no replacement for displacement. Take a viper to lingenfelter and see what happens!

Those figures are very misleading. In fact, the did the test the way they did to make them more outrageous.
They way they test them at Motor Trend is to slap on an ultra sticky set of slicks, with next to no pressure in them. Watch the rear tires on launch, the are big sidewall drag radials, and they flex like hell.
Come on, there are hot rodders here, and we all know what you can do with a really soft 13-14" wide drag radial! Give me $2000 US and a set of those tires(+wheels), and I'd put those guys to shame.
So in effect, they are not daily drivers, or even street legal, because you couldn't drive on the street with those tires.
Lingenfelter builds rock solid reliable machines, he'll do a 12 second Firebird for about $15,000 including HKE or Fikse wheels, and Baer brakes. I remember a C&D issue with a top speed run, and the LPE Firebird beat all the ZR1 tuner Vettes for less than half the price(192mph $35K)
I don't have much experience with Hennessey, but I do recall a R&T article where they did a big performance shoot out, and both Venom Vipers(500 and 600 I think?) broke down, with one catching fire.
