wanted cheap car

I love old cars and i just want a car in running condition, by running i mean it can make a 100km (60miles) trip twice a week for the entire year. I don't have much more than $2000 to spend. it doesn't need a big block, even if it's a six cylender, i need something that could be a project car in the future but can be a daily driver for now. i would actually prefer a smaller engine (like a chevelle with a v6) because they're better on gas and insurance is lower.

anything that fit these criteria will do, I'm not picky, i just want something that will rin now but can be made into a monster later. (so something like a camaro with a v6, or a dart with an inlline 6)

I live in ontario canada so if it's close to there it would be better but if it can make the trip that's just as good.
