I was just wondering if there would be any issues if I changed my oil to a 5w50 castrol syn. oil in my buick instead of keeping it at a 10w30.

Personally, I don't subscribe to synthetic anything (I'm strictly old-school) but, if you want to change to synthetic, change to 10-W-30 not 5-W-50. :nono:
