sable engine swap into taurus

Hi,
I've got a question for you Taurus gurus. My nephew has a 96 Taurus with a dead engine. He got a 96 Sable engine to replace it. The difference is that the Sable does not have air injection while the Taurus did. He would rather not have to replace the computer and the existing wiring loom. Can the Taurus wiring loom be jumpered in order to fool the engine control computer?
Thanks all in advance for your expeditious response.

tauri and sables of the same year should be interchangeable. Does his taurus happen to be an FFV?

Wouldn't there be a difference between the Duratec and the Vulcan? I never really looked at them real close to see, but I'm asuming there might be some slight differences.

yes, but I was assuming he wasn't dumb enough to buy a car with a completely different engine, but yes, if one is a vulcan and one is a duratec you'd DEFINITELY have to swap the ECU and harness.

Sorry didn't mean to point out something obvious and stupid!

FYI -
Indeed he found that he needed to swap the engine wire harness and electronic bits from the Taurus engine to the Merc engine.
I do however resent the "stupid" remark. He thought he would be saving a couple of $$ as the Merc engine was cheaper. He asked me the question as he discovered this problem after he called back to the salvage yard that sold him the engine. "Oh, yeah, you may have to do some wiring mods" was the reply.

if he's swapping a duratec into a car that originally had a vulcan he'll also have to swap in the transmission since a duratec ECU won't know what to do with an AX4S and even if it did work, a duratec would completely destroy an AX4S in a matter of weeks. Please be more specific on which engines are in which cars.

Sorry if you thaught I was directing the "stupid" comment at you. I was directing it as a sarcastic remark to a previous "dumb" remark in a previous post. I don't think it was stupid to think this motor would fit, I just think since Ford has two different 3 litre motors it would be fairly easy to mistakenly get the wrong one. I think for Someone to think that someone else is (and I quote) "Dumb enough to buy a car with a totaly different motor" is a little harsh.
didn't mean to offend,
