what year is it? also check www.kbb.com they give you estimates for what to expect from a dealer with a trade in. also what to expect from a private party deal as well.

Heres the General Rule of thumb that all Car Dealers practice.
BUY LOW- SELL HIGH. You said you can't sell it, Well get ready to GIVE it away to the used car manager. I just picked up from a private seller a 1997 LS -EC loaded with all options execpt for moon roof and leather, 100,000 on the clock...$2800. runs like brand new...I looked at the same truck at a Chevy dealer the day before, $6000. with a thirty day warranty. (BIG DEAL) I would keep that truck up for sale.

The market is bad for the SUV type autos . GAS guzzlers as the TV nerds call them . We went thru the minivan thing a few years ago . Sold it thru a used car dealer on consignment instead of trading it in . Got alot more for it , and he sold it with a warranty . My point is , try to find a car lot that will do this in your area . People may be interested if its offered with warranty. Rob

This seems like a better way to sell it rather then just trading it in and taking a big hit on the price, good advice Rmbodie :2cents:

Don't give up yet. Post pictures at auto parts stores and grocery stores. Park it on busy streets with big for sale sign. It can be a lot of work, but can pay off. Be realistic on the price, there are at least 100 similar blazers for sale at any given time in most areas. You are not offering financing or warranty, so don't expect to sell it for Blue book retail price. Set price half way between book retail and book wholsale prices and be ready to deal.

I have it parked on the busy street in my town on a hill, very noticable huge poster sign. Had it advertised in a local newspaper and local car magazine all with pictures. One phone call and the guy never called back when he said he did, what did you do with you van can you explain it alittle more i never heard of it

Do you think i would be able to get at least $4,000 for a trade in towards a $9,000 car or do u think the sales person will laugh. Its a 1997 chevy blazer 4wd 2 door 106,000 miles clean.... new cat, new fuel pump ect.

Try joining some state wide outdoor forums.

They usually have a buy and sell section, and it's free.
Outdoor enthusiasts will be more likely to buy a SUV.
Plus some of these forums have high volumes of people surfing them.

Also offer to drive it out to them for a small fee. It shows that you trust it, plus your more likely to sell it then

Here's how the dealerships work.
He takes a $7000 car. Parks it on his lot and writes $9000 on the window.
You come in and demand to get $4000 trade-in.
He says no problem $9000-$4000= $5000.
You drive home owing $5000 on a $7000 car, but feel good because you think you got $4000 for the trade.

What if you sell it outright for $3000. Then go to dealer, he can discount the same car to $7000 because he doesn't have to pretend he's giving a high trade-in value. Now you can drive out the same car with only a $4000 loan.

Use whatever numbers you want, but be realistic about what is really happening when it appears that you get more for trade-in than what you can sell it for..

You will be lucky nowadays to get $3000 for a rather fuel efficient SUV. They are complete unpractical now.

I know, i hate the fuel this thing consumes and so will your buyers.

Sell it for $3500, then give it to them for $3000.

What is the actual car value? On kbb there is either trade-in private party or retail price...Whitch one is closest to the ACV?

BlazerLT

Private Party: ~US$5000

Dealer Trade in: ~US$3325

Private Party is what you will be selling it on the curb. Remember, these prices are based on demand, and a gas-hungry SUV is not in demand right now.

The place i am going to says that they will give the ACV actual car vaule... witch one is closer to that.

Probably the trade in value.

Just don't be screwed bro, car dealers aren't know to be the most honest businesses out there.
